Foundation Academy is 0-7 against Windermere Prep since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Foundation Academy Lions 's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Windermere Prep Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Hopefully Foundation Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
Foundation Academy and The First Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly Foundation Academy had to settle for second. The match between them and the Royals wasn't particularly close, with the Lions falling 78-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Cameron Basden, who scored 14 points along with six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jacob Osborne, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals.
Foundation Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Windermere Prep earned a 62-51 victory over The First Academy on Saturday. Given Windermere Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while The First Academy is ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Windermere Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Shoptaw, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sinan Huan, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Foundation Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Windermere Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Foundation Academy have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.3% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Windermere Prep struggles in that department as they've made 47.6% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Foundation Academy might still be hurting after the 64-43 loss they got from Windermere Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Foundation Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
