Basketball Recap: Masterman Takes a Loss

Masterman was the 58-36 winner over Franklin Learning Center when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Masterman fell to the Franklin Learning Center Bobcats 49-43. While losing is never fun, Masterman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Franklin Learning Center is ranked 193rd).

Despite the loss, Masterman still got an impressive performance from Raj Chaudhury, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Chaudhury is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Gallier-Howard, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Masterman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Kadeem Martin was nothing short of spectacular for Franklin Learning Center: he went 8 of 16 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Martin is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmie Greeno, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Masterman dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Franklin Learning Center, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Masterman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-42 loss against Bodine on the 17th. As for Franklin Learning Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-49 victory against Science Leadership Academy on the 19th.
