The Estes Park Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Frontier Academy 60-56. Estes Park has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Estes Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jose Gonzales. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Hayden Powell, who scored 12 points.
Frontier Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Crabree led the charge by scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crabree has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Steward, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Estes Park has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Frontier Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Estes Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dawson School at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Dawson School will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Estes Park surely won't give up without a fight. As for Frontier Academy, they will be playing at home against Liberty Common at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Liberty Common focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
