St. Stephens is 8-2 against West Iredell since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The St. Stephens Indians will head out on the road to face off against the West Iredell Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, St. Stephens was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to Foard.
Despite their defeat, St. Stephens saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Molli Harris, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Harris is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Gibbs, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, West Iredell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Statesville on the road and fell 52-12. West Iredell has struggled against Statesville recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
St. Stephens has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for West Iredell, their defeat was their 17th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Everything came up roses for St. Stephens against West Iredell in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-15 win. With St. Stephens ahead 51-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
