Windber and Rockwood are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2023, but likely not for long. The Ramblers will head out on the road to challenge the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Windber is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
Windber easily dispatched Blacklick Valley last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Ramblers fell just short of Meyersdale by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Ramblers have suffered against the Red Raiders since May 8, 2019.
Logan Serenko and Dylan Woodruff did some serious damage despite the final result: Serenko went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Woodruff went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Woodruff has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Rockwood never let their opponents score on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Lighthouse Christian Academy 1-0.
Lighthouse Christian Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Nathan Show, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up three walks). Rockwood is 2-1 when Show posts eight or more strikeouts, but 1-2 otherwise.
At the plate, Rockwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Svonavec, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
The win got Rockwood back to even at 3-3. As for Windber, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Windber has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rockwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Windber's way against Rockwood in their previous meeting back in March, as Windber made off with a 17-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ramblers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
