Half Moon Bay is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Burlingame just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-5.

Miranda Sarabia made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Colts. Considering the Bears have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Elise Koo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Koo was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Menlo-Atherton got a massive performance out of Carey Maletis, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Rodgers, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Menlo-Atherton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Half Moon Bay's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Menlo-Atherton, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Half Moon Bay has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Menlo-Atherton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Half Moon Bay might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Menlo-Atherton when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road?
