Heartland III recap Oct. 16, 2012
Bloomsburg moved up to 242 from 282 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Heartland III. The Panthers were able to make the jump by falling to Southern Columbia Area 32-20.
The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Bloomsburg, 32-20. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Montgomery's dynamic duo of Matthew BOONE and Colton HARER proved tough for Wellsboro to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. BOONE threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns and HARER had 122 yards receiving. Corey KRINER helped Montgomery's passing attack out by catching four balls for 24 yards.
Troy Hembury was the most productive running back in the league this week. In nine carries, he ran for 146 yards as Muncy fell to the Hornets. Junior Ramos also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Montgomery's BOONE and HARER have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Heartland III in both passing and receiving yards. BOONE has thrown for 816 yards this season, while HARER, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 42 catches for 465 yards. Hembury from the Indians leads the league in rushing with 864 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Warrior Run takes on Randy Boone's team. At the moment, the Defenders are in fourth, while the Red Raiders are in fifth.
Larry Sones' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,642 from 6,539. The advance stemmed from a 32-20 victory over the Panthers last week.
