Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Thomas Jefferson Spartans walked away with it. They walked away with a 22-14 victory over Standley Lake on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Thomas Jefferson.
Dimitri Haralambopoulos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 184 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 32 yards and a touchdown. Jake Tapia was another key contributor, rushing for 133 yards while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Despite the loss, Standley Lake still got an impressive performance from Boston Harris, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 47 yards and a touchdown.
Thomas Jefferson's win was their sixth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Greeley West and 1-9 Pomona (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.4% over those games). As for Standley Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Thomas Jefferson will head out on the road to face off against Dakota Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Dakota Ridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Standley Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
