Michael Kroll
Michael Kroll looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Regis Jesuit: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Regis Jesuit saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Konieczny, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Konieczny a new career-high. Another was Chase Massey, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Douglas County and Castle View, and Douglas County kept the tradition alive. The Huskies skirted past the Sabercats 13-12. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by just one run.
Bricen Moore was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Gienger, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Douglas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Douglas County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Regis Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Regis Jesuit has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Douglas County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Regis Jesuit took their victory against Douglas County when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-5 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
