Perry lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Waynesfield-Goshen, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Commodores never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. Considering the Commodores have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Hunter Scott made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brodey Douce was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Perry's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Colten Scott, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Perry has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Perry is set to face off against their familiar foe Elgin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Commodores 2.5, the Comets 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Waynesfield-Goshen will take on rival Ridgedale at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
