J.J. Gray of Salem ran for the longest rushing play in 2A Region 3 this season against Walnut Ridge last week. Gray scampered for 69 yards on the play and finished with 175 on the day as his team topped the Bobcats.
East Poinsett County extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Augusta, 50-8. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Warriors.
Salem's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Greyhounds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Dillon Turner has thrown for 731 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Heath Goodman has 16 catches for 174 yards. Gray leads the league in rushing with 903 yards.
Salem's Gray needs only 97 yards against East Poinsett County next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Bron Harris' team took down the Red Devils 50-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
