The Peabody Warhorses put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 72-33 victory over Winnfield at home. Fans of Peabody have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Jordan Mathews was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Peabody's points. Justin Burns was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Decavian Duncan, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Craig St Cyr, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
Peabody has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 4-0 record. As for Winnfield, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peabody will face off against Alexandria at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexandria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Peabody is ranked fourth). As for Winnfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Ruston at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
