It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Newark Valley Cardinals can now relate to. They had to suffer through a rough 27-0 loss at the hands of Delaware Academy. While losing is never fun, Newark Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Delaware Academy is ranked 112th).
Among those leading the charge was Tanner Bracchy, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also picked up 74 receiving yards.
Newark Valley are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Delaware Academy, Tioga, and Delaware Academy. As for Delaware Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Newark Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Delaware Academy will square off against Tioga at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Tioga has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 472 points over their last eight matchups.
