Cinco Ranch (Katy, Texas) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Mayde Creek (Houston, Texas), 30-0, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Tony Smith touchdown pass to
Ben LaPrade in the first quarter, the Cougars led 23-0 at the half.
Cinco Ranch expanded its lead to 30 points entering the fourth quarter. CR's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by
Luke Klingler to
Sam Straughan.
Straughan stood out for the Katy school in the win. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
The Cougars came in allowing an average of 18.2 points per game this season.
A 35-23 Cinco Ranch victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The win brought Cinco Ranch's winning streak to three games. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Rams.
Mayde Creek (1-5) will play a 5A Region III District 19 game against Memorial next week, while Cinco Ranch (5-1) will take on Katy Taylor also in a 5A Region III District 19 game.
