Basketball Recap: Corinth Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Corinth Christian Academy was the 50-46 winner over Westwood Christian when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Corinth Christian Academy Warriors received a blow on Monday as they fell 62-44 to the Westwood Christian Warriors. Corinth Christian Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Corinth Christian Academy got some senior leadership from Alden Hughes and Cason Amerson. Hughes posted 19 points and five assists, while Amerson had 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. Hunter Thomas was another key player, putting up eight points.

Westwood Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tripp Kirkland out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Kirkland has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Corinth Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Westwood Christian, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Corinth Christian Academy and Hart 2 Hart Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Westwood Christian, they will host Corinth Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
