Vandalia hasn't had much luck against North Clay/Clay City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vandals will be playing in front of their home fans against North Clay/Clay City at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Vandalia let Carlyle stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Monday but luckily Vandalia prevailed anyway. The Vandals narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians/Lady Indians 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vandals.

The team relied heavily on Jack Lewis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Jones, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, North Clay/Clay City entered their tilt with Christ Our Rock Lutheran on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Silver Stallions. That's two games straight that North Clay/Clay City has won by exactly four runs.
Jack Compton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cayden Craig was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carder Walden, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
North Clay/Clay City's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Vandalia, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.
