After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chillicothe, McClain was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Washington Blue Lions. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
McClain took Washington into a fifth set where they got it done with a ten-point win. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 15-5.
Alaya Jackson paced McClain's offense, picking up 11 kills. Jackson got some help from Molly McCune and her 29 assists. Lydia Beatty controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
Despite the loss, Washington saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gracie Moore had ten digs and two aces. Ava Hines also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
McClain's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Washington, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
