GVCS Broadfording is on a three-game streak of home losses, Martinsburg a two-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The GVCS Broadfording Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Martinsburg Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully GVCS Broadfording focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-36, which was the final score in GVCS Broadfording's tilt against Allegany. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for GVCS Broadfording in their matchups with Allegany: they've now lost six in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Jordan Shifler, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Cartwright, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Martinsburg beat Western Albemarle 49-37 on Saturday.
GVCS Broadfording's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Martinsburg, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
GVCS Broadfording was dealt a bruising 70-33 loss at the hands of Martinsburg in their previous meeting back in January. Can GVCS Broadfording avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
