The Perry Panthers will be playing at home against the West Laurens Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Perry unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 31-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spalding.
Despite the loss, Perry got a solid performance out of Ahmad Gordon, who rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Gordon hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for four straight games.
Meanwhile, West Laurens' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 35-21 to Howard.
West Laurens' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ty Cummings, who rushed for 137 yards, and Johnny Williams who picked up 163 receiving yards. Williams' longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards.
Perry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for West Laurens, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Perry against West Laurens in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 32-0 win. Will Perry repeat their success, or does West Laurens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
