Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) told MaxPreps host Chris Stonebraker he doesn't really like to be compared to other people. And all the numbers mean little. He has just always "loved playing football since I was really small."
Despite nursing a slight hip flexor injury, Sweat showed those at Nike Headquarters and a national television audience exactly how athletic he is by not only displaying his 40 speed, but showing off a 39-inch vertical jump, throwing the power ball 47 feet and running the shuttle in 4.2 seconds.
His overall score of 148.17 was second only to winner Kirk Merritt (148.83).
"I thought I could have jumped a little higher," he told Stonebraker.
Asked what he loved most about playing high school football, Sweat said: "I love Friday night lights, and the grind."
As far as his college plans, he did not offer a top five or 10 list. Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon and Tennessee are among his strongest suitors, according to 247Sports. JC Shurbutt, 247 recruiting analyst, predicts Sweat will pick Virginia Tech.
