The Tulare Western Mustangs fell victim to the Lemoore Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Tigers, falling 29-0. Tulare Western's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it six in a row.
Ezra Beavers threw for 27 yards on a of three attempts. Aubrey Taylor was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Mikey Johnson rushed for 62 yards.
Lemoore can attribute much of their success to Dameion Hernandez, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Tulare Western's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Hanford and 6-3 Redwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Lemoore, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Tulare Western will be playing at home against Tulare Union at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lemoore, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Hanford is ranked 107th, while Lemoore is ranked 120th).
