Overland is 1-9 against Mullen since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Overland Trailblazers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mullen Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Overland sitting on ten straight wins and Mullen on four.
Last Friday, Overland humbled Aurora Central with a 75-21 victory. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trailblazers had established a 41 point advantage.

Overland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Davis, who made all 6 shots she took racking up 15 points and four steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Cayla Clark was another key player, going 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals.
Overland was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, Mullen got the win against Roosevelt on Thursday by a conclusive 65-44. With the Mustangs ahead 38-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Mullen found their leader in sophomore Makenzie Jones, who went 6 for 15 en route to 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Jones. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Arangua-Egbert, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 16 points and three steals.
Overland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Mullen, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Overland has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Mullen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Overland was dealt a bruising 69-40 defeat at the hands of Mullen in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jones, who went 9 for 12 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that Overland knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
