The Berkeley Stags''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cane Bay 24-21. This was payback for Berkeley, who suffered a 45-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
Leading Berkeley to victory were Henry Rivers and Kevin Boone. Rivers threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns, while Boone picked up 233 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Cane Bay's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mark Stewart, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 119 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes.
Berkeley's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 5-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points per game. As for Cane Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Berkeley will be playing in front of their home fans against Conway at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. Conway is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Cane Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against White Knoll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. White Knoll is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
