DeSoto is 5-0 against Skyline since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The DeSoto Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Skyline Raiders at 6:30 p.m. DeSoto is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
DeSoto put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 61-11 win over Mansfield. Given DeSoto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Mansfield is ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Skyline's three-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They took down Mansfield 47-33. The win was just what Skyline needed coming off of a 84-41 defeat in their prior match.
Skyline got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Khalaizah Martin out in front who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Naiya Carney, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
DeSoto's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Skyline, the win got them back to even at 14-14.
Everything came up roses for DeSoto against Skyline in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 75-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for DeSoto since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
