The Fruita Monument Wildcats put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 70-28 win over Battle Mountain. Fruita Monument has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 23 points or more this season.
Fruita Monument was led to victory by Daniel Thomason and Jhett Wells. Thomason scored 18 points, while Wells scored 21 points along with three steals. Lucas Weaver was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five assists.
Fruita Monument's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. As for Battle Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fruita Monument's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Montrose at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Montrose focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Battle Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Eagle Valley at 7:00 p.m. Eagle Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Battle Mountain likes a good challenge.
