Basketball Recap: Monte Vista Piles Up the Points Against Bayfield

Monte Vista won the last time they faced Bayfield and things went their way on Friday too. The Monte Vista Pirates blew past the Bayfield Wolverines 42-8. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 33 points or more this season.

Monte Vista can attribute much of their success to SaSha Dupont, who posted 11 points and eight steals. Dupont is becoming a predictor of Monte Vista's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Angeleigha Mora, who scored seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Monte Vista and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Bayfield, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Monte Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-31 loss against Centauri on the 25th. Bayfield has also already played their next matchup (against Ouray), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
