The Morristown Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to face off against the Waldron Mohawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Morristown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Morristown suffered a rough 58-34 loss at the hands of Franklin County. Morristown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
DDanika Rutledge put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds. She scored a full 41.2% of Morristown's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Waldron ended up a good deal behind Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday and lost 62-46. Waldron has not had much luck with Jac-Cen-Del recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their defeat, Waldron saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alyssa Benson, who scored 15 points along with 7 assists and 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Hogg, who scored 8 points along with 7 rebounds.
Morristown bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Waldron, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Everything went Morristown's way against Waldron when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Morristown made off with a 62-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morristown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
