It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Edgewater Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by First Coast at home to the tune of 37-6. The victory was just business as usual for Edgewater, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Kaden Shields-Dutton was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Shields-Dutton hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for six straight games. Sir Semaj Fleming was in the mix as well, providing Edgewater with two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding First Coast to a paltry 139 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Edgewater's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out five times before it was all said and done. Joshua Alexander-Felton was especially locked on to First Coast's QB and sacked him twice.
Edgewater's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for First Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Edgewater will be playing in front of their home fans against Jones at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jones is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. First Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
