It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Canyon del Oro Dorados had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past Arizona College Prep with a 33-27 win. Canyon del Oro's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Kayden Luke continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Arizona College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Evan Heinrich threw for 192 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Canyon del Oro has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Mica Mountain and 8-2 Walden Grove (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.8% over those games). As for Arizona College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Canyon del Oro has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Mica Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Mica Mountain will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. Arizona College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
