Colusa is a perfect 6-0 against University Prep since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The RedHawks will square off against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Colusa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Winters get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the RedHawks.
Ava Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, University Prep came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 9-2 win.
Like Colusa, University Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Hailey Pebley. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Pebley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, University Prep let Abigail Lewis and Madisyn Rubalcava run wild. Lewis went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Rubalcava went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Riley Villano, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
University Prep's victory was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Colusa, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
University Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Colusa has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for University Prep, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Colusa keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Colusa took their win against University Prep in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RedHawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
