Wilsonville's Ryan Walsh recorded the longest rushing play in 5A Northwest Oregon this season in his game against Mountain View last week. Walsh scampered for 93 yards on the play and finished with 158 on the day as his team topped the Cougars.
Sherwood extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Liberty, 61-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Wilsonville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Highberger threw for 178 and two touchdowns and Tanner Shipley had 107 yards receiving. Gunner Pollman helped Wilsonville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 83 yards.
Henry Vy provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Parkrose fell to Putnam. He completed two passes for 86 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 108 yards. Vy's favorite target this week was Michael Hurlic, who caught four passes for 103 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Johnathan Boland of the Broncos is the league leader in passing yards this season with 618. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Adam Guenther's team's Shipley has rushed for 710 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Corey West. The St. Helens star has 13 catches for 280 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Northwest Oregon this week will be when Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts takes on the Wildcats. As it stands, the Mustangs are in third, while Wilsonville is in second.
The Kingsmen made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,474 from 9,744. The improvement came about via a 68-40 victory over Parkrose last week.
