The Woonsocket Villa Novans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Westerly Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Woonsocket is ranked 16th, while Westerly is ranked seventh).
Last Friday, Woonsocket came up short against Portsmouth and fell 25-14.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Daunte Melton, who threw for 236 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Westerly had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Cranston East at home. The result was nothing new for Westerly, who have now won four matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Westerly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Husereau led the charge by throwing for 266 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes. Terrell Hill also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Westerly's win bumped their season record to 5-1 while Woonsocket's loss dropped theirs to 4-2.
Woonsocket was taken down by Westerly 31-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Woonsocket avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
