Wonderful College Prep Academy kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 16-1 walloping at the hands of the Laton Mustangs.
For Laton's part, Haylee Duran and Evelyn Buttle made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Duran tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Meanwhile, Buttle tossed three innings while giving up no earned run or hits. In other batting news, Laton got a massive performance out of Madison Heffley, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, a triple, and an RBI. Monica Silva was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Laton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
