The Archbishop Curley Friars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary's and snuck past 13-10. For Archbishop Curley, this counts as revenge for the 22-3 defeat St. Mary's walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Caron Madison was his usual excellent self, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown. Madison is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
The team's defense also helped out by holding St. Mary's to a paltry 244 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Archbishop Curley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bailen Boutz.
Archbishop Curley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for St. Mary's, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Curley will take on Riverdale Baptist at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverdale Baptist will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing at home against St. Paul's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (St. Paul's is ranked 75th, while St. Mary's is ranked 52nd).
