Greenfield/Northwestern and New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will square off against the Vipers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Greenfield/Northwestern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Greenfield/Northwestern after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lincolnwood by a score of 9-8. The Tigers have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Jaylynn Pitchford was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Annabeth Thornton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Karissa Ruyle, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-5 to Maroa-Forsyth.

Greenfield/Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything went Greenfield/Northwestern's way against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Greenfield/Northwestern made off with a 21-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
