After flying high against the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter Hornets on Friday, the R Red Jacket came back down to earth. R was outmatched by Alexander at home and fell 77-27. R has struggled against Alexander recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Sarah English and Leah Batterson certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. English dropped a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Batterson scored 11 points. Batterson scored a full 40.7% of R's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
R's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Alexander, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
R will be playing at home against Bradford Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alexander will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Attica at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.
