The Vianney Golden Griffins''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 76-47 loss at the hands of Howell. While losing is never fun, Vianney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Howell is ranked 21st).
Despite the defeat, Vianney saw an underclassman step up: Sam Deen threw for 409 yards and five touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Anthony Cullen also helped out as he racked up 156 receiving yards.
Vianney's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. As for Howell, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Vianney does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Howell will square off against Lafayette at TBD on Friday. Lafayette is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.
