Cave Spring is 2-7 against Pulaski County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cave Spring Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Pulaski County Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Cave Spring is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Two weeks ago, Cave Spring was beaten by Salem 51-3. While losing is never fun, Cave Spring can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Salem is ranked tenth).
Meanwhile, Pulaski County can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 41-19 margin over Hidden Valley. The win was just what Pulaski County needed coming off of a 52-24 loss in their prior contest.
Trevor Gallimore was a one-man wrecking crew for Pulaski County as he rushed for 229 yards and five touchdowns. Gallimore is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Salem's win bumped their season record to 8-1 while Cave Spring's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Cave Spring was able to grind out a solid victory over Pulaski County in their previous meeting back in September of 2022, winning 12-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cave Spring since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
