Baseball Game Preview: Big Sandy Wildcats vs. Alba-Golden Panthers

The Big Sandy Wildcats will square off against the Alba-Golden Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Big Sandy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Como-Pickton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, while Alba-Golden put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Yantis. The Panthers blew past the Owls 15-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Easton Samples and Brett Sutton did most of the damage at the plate: Samples scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Sutton went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave Samples a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Boyd, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Alba-Golden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Alba-Golden has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Big Sandy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
