The Central Spartans will play host again and welcome the Eastlake Titans, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Central earned a 14-7 win over Brawley. 14 seems to be a good number for Central as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nico Viesca, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Central's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Jared Martin and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Eastlake was able to grind out a solid victory over Bonita Vista on Friday, taking the game 30-17. The victory was just what Eastlake needed coming off of a 36-14 defeat in their prior contest.
Eastlake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Schmitz out in front who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Schmitz was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Kingston Schaaf, who rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Eastlake, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
