Calhoun has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Doddridge County Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. Calhoun and Doddridge County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
Last Tuesday, Calhoun had to suffer through a rough 72-20 loss at the hands of Gilmer County. While losing is never fun, Calhoun can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Gilmer County is ranked 12th).
Meanwhile, Doddridge County put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Webster County 58-43.
Doddridge County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aleigh Cheeseman, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Payton Trent, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Tenley Paugh, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Doddridge County, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Calhoun was taken down by Doddridge County 61-23 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Calhoun was down 32-10.
