Baseball Recap: Piute Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Piute came out on top against Green River on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Thunderbirds never let the Pirates get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Piute let Nash Fautin and Julian Mar run wild. Fautin went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Mar went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Mar a new career-high. Kyler Bunker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Piute hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green River struck out nine times.

Piute is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Green River, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piute will challenge Pinnacle at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Green River, they will take on Bryce Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
