Softball Recap: UMS-Wright Prep Has No Trouble Against Leflore

UMS-Wright Prep won the last time they faced LeFlore and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Rattlers with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

Emiliana Pounds and Lucy Sullivan did most of the damage at the plate: Pounds got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Sullivan went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That triple marked the first that Pounds has hit this season. Emma Shepler was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

UMS-Wright Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for LeFlore, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, UMS-Wright Prep will challenge St. Michael Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LeFlore, they will take on Blount at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Leopards have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.2 runs per game on average), something the Rattlers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
