The Covenant Life Cougars were the 62-49 winner over Mount Airy Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Covenant Life took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Airy Christian Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mount Airy Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Garrett Alford out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Joey Stanton was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with 8 rebounds.
Covenant Life has fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Covenant Life's road trip will continue as they head out to face Arlington Baptist at 5:00 p.m. on December 4th. Arlington Baptist comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Mount Airy Christian Academy, they will square off against New Life Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
