Higley is 1-7 against Williams Field since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Higley Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Williams Field Black Hawks at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Higley is ranked 16th, while Williams Field is ranked 17th).
After only six points in their last matchup, Higley made sure to put some points up on the board against Desert Mountain on Friday. Higley simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Desert Mountain 58-21 on the road. The result was nothing new for Higley, who have now won four contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Higley relied on the efforts of Daxen Hall, who rushed for 161 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and Gunner Fagrell, who threw for 246 yards and five touchdowns. Hall hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Higley also got help from Kaden Millner who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Williams Field pushed their score all the way to 47 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of American Leadership Academy. Williams Field's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Williams Field's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dylan Lee, who gained 433 total yards and two touchdowns, and Xavier Buckles who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Lee was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
Higley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Williams Field, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4.
Higley was able to grind out a solid victory over Williams Field in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 31-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Williams Field's Joshua Dye, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown.
