Nixon is 2-8 against United South since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Nixon will look to defend their home field against United South at 6:00 p.m. Nixon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Nixon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Palmview 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since February 20th.

Giulia Garza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruby Ibarra, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Yaritza Ramos was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, United South suffered their closest defeat since March 2, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of United by a score of 8-6. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

United South also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Danyka Charles gave up four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, United South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Venegas, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Camila Venegas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Nixon pushed their record up to 13-9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for United South, they now have a losing record of 12-13-1.

Nixon couldn't quite finish off United South when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can Nixon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
