Scotlandville's Reece Beekman capture 2019-20 Suddenlink Louisiana Player of the Year honors after an impressive senior campaign that saw the 6-foot-3 guard average 19.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, 9.1 assists, 2.7 blocks and 2.3 steals per contest.
He's guided Scotlandville to three consecutive state titles, and the Hornets are heavy favorites to capture their fourth consecutive LHSAA Division I state crown.
Beekman made a unique impact this season with 13 triple-doubles in 32 games while shooting 56 percent from the field. He has compiled over 2,000 points, 900 rebounds and 900 assists over a productive four-year career.
His best statistical output of the season came late in the year in an 86-45 win over Live Oak, finishing with 40 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and five blocks on Feb. 18.
Signed with Virginia, Beekman is regarded as the No. 60 prospect in the class of 2020, according to 247sports. He will look to make an immediate impact for the defending national champions in the ACC next season.
