 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Brandon Hellyer, who  scored two  runs and  stole five bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.  Anderson Filla was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Merino came up short against Haxtun  in Saturday's  second game and fell  9-6.
  Tyler Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Akron's victory was  their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 10-1. As for Merino, their loss  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 10-4.
 The pitchers for both teams better look sharp  in Tuesday's  first game as neither team is afraid to steal. Akron has been swiping bases left and right this season,  having  averaged 7.6  stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Merino struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 6.2. The only question left is which team can snag more.
