Glendale has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Clever Blue Jays at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Glendale has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 56-16 win over Joplin. Given Glendale's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Joplin is ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Clever waltzed into their match Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They strolled past Central with points to spare, taking the game 55-38.
Clever's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayleign Flood, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Jones, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Glendale's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Clever, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Glendale didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Clever when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Glendale since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
