This season hasn't been kind to the Lake Buena Vista Vipers, who are still winless after their sixth match. They took a 39-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Altamonte Christian on Friday. While losing is never fun, Lake Buena Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 639th, while Altamonte Christian is ranked 163rd).
Altamonte Christian found their leader in underclassman Alexis Hill, who scored four points along with 18 rebounds. Hill has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taneya Wright, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Lake Buena Vista bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.3 points per game. As for Altamonte Christian, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Buena Vista will challenge Apopka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamonte Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Flagler Palm Coast at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
